**Use our glove sizing guide to help choose the right size glove for your age and position**
When buying a new glove, there are many things to consider. One of the most important factors to look at when choosing your glove is how it fits. Glove manufacturers
create most models in a variety of sizes to enable players to find the glove with all the features they enjoy in a size that fits their age, abilities, and positions. Use our sizing
chart to the left to determine what size glove might work best for you. Then look for comfort.  Choosing a glove that fits well will improve your confidence and performance on
the field.

Other considerations when shopping for a new glove include what position you’ll be playing, what style preferences you have, and what materials you’d like.. Gloves used in
the outfield are generally longer in length to give as much reach as possible, and have
deeper pockets to handle balls hit high in the air. Generally outfielders and third
basemen prefer a
closed web for extra support. Middle infielders tend to opt for an open web and smaller gloves with more shallow pockets to allow for quicker retrieval
of the ball from the pocket. First basemen and catchers use mitts, which do not have individual finger slots. A first base mitt is similar to a catcher’s mitt, but generally has
less padding.

There are also several different materials used for making gloves. Most gloves are made of one of the following: Top-grain Leather, Kipskin Leather, Premium Steer Hide,
Cow Hide, Kangaroo Skin, Pig Skin, or Synthetic Materials.
Top-grain leather is typically heavier, requires a longer break in time, and is used almost exclusively in “top of the
line” gloves.
Kipskin is from younger cattle producing a softer leather easier to break-in and is a newer material which manufacturers are using in some high end gloves.
Premium Steer Hide tends to produce a stiff glove with a longer break-in time and is sometimes pre-oiled to reduce this time. Cow Hide which is usually medium weight,
produces a wide range of quality, breaks in faster and wears out faster than steer hide. This grade usually comes pre-oiled or treated to reduce break-in time.
Kangaroo Skin
is a new material which only some manufacturers are using currently, and is stronger and lighter than steer hide.
Pigskin is far less durable than cowhide, but does break in
much quicker and easier than cowhide. Pigskin gloves are generally less expensive making them a great choice for younger players who will quickly grow out of their glove.
Finally there are
Synthetic materials which produce a lighter glove requiring little if any break-in, are less expensive than leather. They can be a good choice for a youngster's
"starter" glove. The downside of these gloves is they are considerably less-durable than leather and simply will not withstand the wear and tear leather will.
